Jaguaribe

Created in 1998 by former members of the Río Maranyao, Los Mezclados, Maracaibo and Los Caribes Comparsas, Jaguaribe, the group under the direction of Miguel González, took part in the Carnival for the first time in 2008.

To date, it stands out for its series of first prizes, both in the Performance category and in Costume.

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Carnival

First Prize for Performance 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2007.

First Prize for Costume 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.


Kisamba

The members of Kisamba, the junior Comparsa which won the First Prize for Performance in the junior contest in 2015, grew up and took part in the adult contest for the first time in 2016. At its debut in the grown-ups' league in 2017, the Comparsa took the First Prize for Performance, which they were awarded every following year from 2018 to 2020.

The comparsa's costume designs have been recognised with a first prize in the category in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022.


Loara

Loara first took to the boards in 2014 for the World of Fantasy Carnival.


Los Caribe

This was the Carnival's first Comparsa. It came into being as an example of participation among neighbours in the La Isleta quarter; the neighbours' level of involvement was very high. It was recognised at the Official Carnival Comparsa, a letter of introduction for the festivities. It won the first prizes in 1978-9 and 1980.

The Comparsa disappeared in 1993.


Los Lianceiros

Created in 2008, it hasn't missed its date with the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Carnival since its first appearance in 2009.


Maracaibo

Maracaibo was a reference point for the Carnival's Comparsas. Its origin and development are to be found in the street of La Isleta and from 1980 to 1992 it won numerous prizes for its choreographies and expertise. The members of the Maracaibo troupe were famous for their costumes. They broke with traditions and began to instil a new style.

Nuevo Estilo

Founded in 1979, this is the most veteran Comparsa of those to take part in the most recent Carnivals. Since then, Rosario Quintana has been its president.

Rayo de Luna

The members of the Rayo de Luna Comparsa showed of their artistic skill for the first time in the 1999 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Carnival. Since then, this group of Comparsa artists from the La Isleta quarter took part in the festivities every year until 2006.

Between the members there were years of experience since, at the beginning, before becoming Rayo de Luna, the group took part for a number of years under the name of Tagoror.


Río Bamba

Founded in 1985 in the La Isleta quarter, Río Bamba was one of the first Comparsas to take part in the festivities. The group showed off its costumes and choreographies in the capital's Carnivals until 2007, with the exception of 2002.
