At dusk it will be time to say farewell to the "Earth" Carnival and therefore, for the funeral of the most earthly and long-lived sardine that the capital's festivities have ever had. The funeral cortège will leave Santa Catalina Park for its journey to the Las Canteras Beach where the farewell will be bid to the clupeoid fish; the cortège will be supported along the route by the Carnival personalities, the Los Nietos de Kika Afilarmónica, la Banda Guayedra, the widows, professional mourners and priests, and a show to enliven the proceedings, as well as the Batucadas and the members of the grupos which will watch over the sardine until it reaches the capital city's beach.

On a float twelve metres in length, designed by Sergio Macías, the Carnival stage designer, the sardine will shed its scales to reveal a new skin very different from the blue it showed off on the stage during "See you soon, Mr Carnival".
