This is the official Carnival start: the stars of this show are the people in the audience that day, and the master or masters of ceremonies, one or more people with a high social or popular profile, usually closely connected to local public life and, as is often the case, with a special bond with this Carnival celebration. This is an event that brings everyone together, and it is preceded by a parade which livens the streets with Batucada drum groups and Carnival rhythms.

The opening proclamation, delivered in 2025 by the president of the group Los Nietos de Kika, Orlando Jiménez, features the participation of small delegations representing the Carnival groups and those contending for the throne, and they are joined by the winners from the previous edition.

Route of the opening parade: The parade will set off at 8 pm from Juan Rejón to Santa Catalina Park. At 9 pm, the proclamation will begin on the festival stage. At the end of the event, the audience will enjoy a performance by the orchestra El Combo Dominicano.
