María Suárez Suárez
María Suárez Suárez, the candidate representing El Kilo de San Gregorio, was named the Grand Dame of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Carnival 2018. She took part on the stage with the design “De mi cuento de hada salí y al Carnaval de Las Palmas quise venir" (Out of My Fairy Tale I Came and to Las Palmas Carnival I Wished to Go), which she created herself together with Antonio Cruz, who is also a designer.
Mary Hernández Rodríguez
Mary Hernández Rodríguez, presented by Disoft Informática and Servicio Técnico Gil, was named Grand Dame of the Eternal Spring Carnival on the night of Sunday 12 February.
The candidate modelled the design “¿Qué misterio habrá?” (What mystery will there be?), the work of Juan Francisco Sánchez Padrón and Melody Sánchez Guarda, with the collaboration of the Asociación Santa Rita de Casia from Marzagán.
Drag Queen Grimassira Maeva
Drag Grimassira Maeva was again proclaimed Drag Queen of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Carnival, a title she won in 2014. The humour Rayco Santana brought to his show ‘#StrandedinTenerife Ladies and Gentlemen we are having a short commercial break #Whatadrag’ carried all before it on platform night.
Carmen Martín Ceballos
Carmen Martín Ceballos, with her costume “Flapper Girl”, a design by Idaire and Abiel Niño in representation of the Isleta-Puerto-Guanarteme District, took the title of Carnival Grand Dame in 2016.
Leonor Morera
María Leonor Morera Santana collected the title of 1001 Carnival Grand Dame. The design she wore on the stage of the Santa Catalina Park, "Madame Butterfly", sponsored by Centro Comercial El Muelle and the Asociación de empresarios Puerto – Canteras, was created by the designer Willie Díaz, who ratified this prize for the third year running.
