Youth groups are very important when it comes to the city’s festival.  The children’s competition is clear proof that carnival spirit is felt from a very young age.  The groups that take part show off their expertise before a panel that judges not only on rhythm, choreography and costumes but also on the energy and enthusiasm with which the children present the performance that it has taken them a year to perfect.
